How to make butterfly cakes / fairy cakes
makes 12 cakes |
welcome to my blog this is my first post of the year and ever! I hope u will enjoy my blog as much as I enjoy writing it. Most things I will post on my blog will be more crafts and DIY thing so I thought I might start with something a bit different. this is not a sponsored post these are just things I had in my fridge and cupboard.
ingredients :
- two medium eggs or three small
- self raising flower
- butter
- caster sugar
- baking powder ( I don't think you need it because of the self raising flower but I put it in just in case )
- mixed spices (optional )
method
1. first turn the oven on to 190°C/375°F/Gas Mark 5. Then weigh out your eggs and whatever they weigh you weigh out the same amount for the butter , flower and sugar this may sound a bit strange but trust me I think it works just the same as a recipe from a recipe book.
2. once you have weighed out all the main ingredients, put the sugar and the butter into a bowl and mix until its like a butter mixture.
3. After add in one egg and sift half the flower ( if you are like me and put in baking powder in sift it with the flower two teaspoons, also if you are adding mixed spices sift two teaspoons in with the flower) and mix well and then slowly add in the rest of the flower and the second egg until light and fluffy.
4. then lay out your cases either in a cupcake tray or just a normal tray and carefully pore the mixture into the cases making sure that it is an even amount.
5.then put the cakes in the oven for 15 minutes until golden brown
excuse the reflection of the camera and me |
ingredients:
- icing sugar ( I only have two boxes in this picture because I did not know if I had enough)
- butter
1. sift 175g of icing sugar into a bowl I put a fresh tea towel on top while sifting and mixing so the icing sugar will not go every ware.
2. add in 75 g of icing sugar and whisk until light and fluffy at this point you can add food colouring or flavourings.
7. once the cake are golden remove them from the oven and place them on a baking rack. I have got to admit that my cakes were a bit on the burnt side ooops
8. once cooled with a knife cut a circular top off the cake. it is had to explain so hear is an image do this to all 12 on the cakes.
9. then add a teaspoon of jam into each of the cakes and then add the butter icing on top.
10. then finial cut the top in half and place back on the cake to make the 'wings' then add a sprinkle of icing sugar on top
tada
I hope you like my first blog post and hope you continue to read my blog I am hopefully going to post every weekend if I don't I will let you know
